Live cell concentrations monitored in cGMP with the new Biomass Monitor 230
March 11th, 2007

Aber Instruments has announced the launch of a new range of on-line Biomass Monitors, the Model 230, designed for use on cGMP bioreactors. Monitoring or controlling mammalian cell culture will be the main application area but the instrument is also suitable for yeast (including Pichia), filamentous bacteria and fungi and high density E. Coli fermentations.

The instrument is based upon the highly acclaimed Aber Biomass Monitor that can measure the live cell concentration when cells are in suspension or attached to carriers. To ensure simplicity of use there are minimum set-up options with password protection for different fermenter conditions. The instrument is enclosed within an IP65 stainless cabinet so there are no additional enclosure costs. It has an integral multiplexer and provides continuous outputs for each channel of either capacitance, cells/ml or g/L dry weight.  The Model 230 can be used with full range of FDA compatible probes.
