The ADI 1075 Bio Console

The BioConsole integrates all the necessary peripheral equipment to run and control a bioprocess. Since the unit is modular, it can be configured to accept only those modules necessary to carry out the control a specific bioprocess. If the process control strategy should change the Bio Console can be easily reconfigured by adding or changing modules.

The basic Bio Console includes all the necessary connections for water supply, gas supply, steam supply and power. Manifolds allow mixing of gases. Water supplies are also brought to a manifold and a separate connection is provided for cold water supply to the air outlet condenser. A central power supply switch controls power to the various modules as well as the Bio Controller. The power section of the Bio Console also includes fusing for protection of the Bio Console and all components. An "alarm" LED is provided which can be used to provide a general alarm status based on sensor input signals.
Temperature control
All valves in the temperature control section are pneumatically operated membrane valves. The process temperature is a closed loop circulation system and controlled by three 1000 W electric heating elements. Temperature can be controlled from 5 °C above cooling water temperature to sterilization temperature. Steam is only required during sterilization. Sterilization accomplished by injecting steam into the vessel jacket. Steam can also be injected directly into the vessel. An integrated temperature safety-switch prevents overheating of the system.
